A web host is the place where your website ‘is’. Basically, just like you would rent space in a mall for a brick and mortar building, you’re renting virtual space on the internet. And just like a store in a mall, your website needs to be managed. When you host with us, that’s what we do for you.
Patrolling the Mall. There are lots of bad guys – and even more bad ‘bots’ – on the internet. They’d love to break into your site and put dangerous code in it, using it to attack other sites, sometimes without you ever knowing they are there. We take steps to keep this from happening, and we get warnings when you are at risk.
Changing the Lightbulbs. A website has a lot of pieces that you’ll never see. WordPress, themes, and plugins make your site run, and each of these has to be updated quite often. We make sure this is done regularly. We also know when it’s best to hold off on updating until bugs and conflicts can be resolved.
Fixing What’s Broken. Sometimes, despite everyone’s best efforts, things go wrong with a website, and it needs to be restored. Our host does daily backups of websites, but we don’t think that’s enough. We do regular backups of your entire site, so that you can be up and running again in no time. (PS Because we’re so carefully about security, we’ve only had to do a restore one time in almost ten years!)
Remodeling the Space. After a while, every website needs a facelift. When your site begins to look dated, or no longer has the functionality that makes the search engines happy, we’ll let you know, and we can start working on a new site for you.
